I had the distinct pleasure of attending the VIP Grand Opening of Ocean Prime in Chicago. This is the 16th Ocean Prime location in the United States by restaurant mogul Cameron Mitchell.
The event featured open bar, a large fresh shrimp and raw oyster bar, various steak appetizers and a desert bar.
Located on the iconic corner of Michigan Avenue and Upper Wacker on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile– Ocean Prime is the perfect choice for power lunch, cocktails or an indulgent dinner any night of the week. Stunning settings and a vibrant energy, an impressive menu of seafood and prime cuts of steak, signature cocktails, a Wine Spectator-honored wine list and truly genuine hospitality make Ocean Prime Chicago an ideal place to socialize, talk business, celebrate and indulge.
At the VIP event I had the opportunity to meet and speak with owner/founder Cameron Mitchell. One of the nicest, most down to earth persons that I have ever met. I was actually very surprised that a millionaire executive could be such a humble person.
The restaurant is very elegant with leather. woodwork and high ceilings. Modern touches abound, with my favorite being the wine wall that separates the bar area from the dining area.
The restaurant menu specializes in Sea food and steak! At the VIP event I spoke with Executive Chef Jason Shelley. He emphasized the freshness of the seafood that they will be serving and the quality of their beef cuts.
The full service bars offer wines of all calibers and delicious cocktails. I had one that was bubbling with dry ice when they served it.
